WEDDING FAQs

SERVICE NUMBERS

How many people can you do hair and makeup for on my wedding day?

I work alone, and not part of a team. It depends on the time you need to be ready, but my bookings are generally capped at a maximum of 7 services. A service is per person, hair styling OR makeup. (Hair and makeup for 1 person is 2 services, hair and makeup for 3 people would be 6 services.) Some venues won’t permit hair and makeup to start before a set time, so that restriction needs to be factored in where applicable.

Is there a minimum number required for mobile services?

A minimum booking of services to the value of $700 is required for all Saturday and mobile wedding services. If you have a small bridal party or the number of people in your booking reduces, you will still be required to meet the minimum charge, regardless of the actual number of people in your booking.

This minimum doesn’t include travel fees, surcharges, or the cost of a trial, as the trial is a separate service held on a different day and is treated as a distinct service.

Unsure about numbers or what styles people would like?

It can be hard to know early on what you or other people would like, so don’t be stress about that at this stage. The main thing to know is the service value can’t go below the minimum service value, and that I can’t do more services than there is time allowed for on the day. For now, you could just put roughly what services you think you’ll need, and other details can be confirmed by email.

I love your style but my bridal party is too big. What are my options?

For large bridal teams, I recommend you have another stylist so one can do hair, the other makeup. You don’t necessarily have to choose straight away whether you’d like me to do hair or makeup for you. Once you’ve locked me in, I can recommend other hair or makeup artists for you to choose from and I’ll be able to fit in with what you need.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

My service extends beyond just creating beautiful hair and makeup
I work hard to go the extra mile to help you be ready to walk down the aisle. It starts with giving you advice on choosing the right style for you, how to prepare your skin and hair in the lead up to the wedding and helping you with creating a getting ready timeline. On the day it’s sometimes setting a 4am alarm for very early morning starts, helping you get into your dress, doing up buttons, helping your Dad with his buttonhole, keeping the calm or embracing the loud! I have your best interests at heart, so you can breathe and enjoy because I’ve got you covered.

HAIR

For the bride, I will add in your own extensions, trimming face framing into shape, hair padding for upstyles, veil and accessory placement.
If anyone in your bridal party wishes to use their own extensions, a surcharge will apply to cover the additional time required for the style.

MAKEUP

On the day, each person will receive one makeup application and be provided with touch up lip colour. Full makeup includes the usual applications to the face area and lightly to upper neck only. False lashes are included if desired. Mini Makeup services includes light foundation, soft makeup style only. No bold or bright lips, liquid eyeliner, or false lashes.

HAIR EXTENSIONS

If your heart is set on having your hair down but it doesn’t hold curl well, you have fine hair or it’s not very long and would like a full bun/upstyle, then I recommend clip in hair extensions. Many of the inspiration images we see use hair extensions to make the style achievable. No one will even know you have them in! I recommend Zala extensions. They’re great quality, very reasonably priced and I have colour swatches to match you at the trial so you can order yourself directly from Zala.

Will my makeup and hairstyle last all day?

Ensuring long lasting hair and makeup is my priority. I use professional products and techniques so that your makeup and hair will last all day and night. Factors such as your skin and hair type, the weather affect how well it lasts as does how well you look after your makeup and hairstyle. If I am creating an upstyle for you, then absolutely your hair will stay. Any soft tendrils around your face will soften naturally during the day. With a downstyle, unfortunately there’s no way to guarantee the longevity of your style.

What brands do you use in your kit?

My makeup kit is filled with professional and luxurious products. Some of my favourite makeup brands are M.A.C Cosmetics, Melli Cosmetics, Danessa Myricks, Atelier Paris, Anastasia Beverly Hills, RCMA, Estée Lauder, Kryolan, Embryolisse and Skindinavia. For those who love faux lashes, I have a wide variety of strip and individual lashes by Helen Dowsley and ModelRock. For hairstyling, I use and recommend De Lorenzo Haircare styling products. You’ll find Dyson Professional, Evy Professional, GHD, MUK, and Babyliss hot tools in my kit.

BOOKINGS AND PAYMENTS

What are your prices?

My rates are listed on this page, above the FAQ section.

What are your Terms and Conditions?

Every business needs to have some terms and conditions to ensure we are on the same page and to ensure our safety and more. I operate fairly and my terms and conditions are in line with consumer law and fair trading.

To provide the best protection for us both, my terms and conditions are quite detailed and are too lengthy to include here. When you are ready to make a booking, I send a unique, secure browser link to the Service Agreement (contract) which includes the full terms and conditions. After you’ve read them thoroughly, you have the opportunity to get in contact with me if you have any questions or need further clarification.

What is required to make a booking?

Bookings are date specific and require a formal booking: paying a non-refundable booking fee of $300, as well as a signed Service Agreement.

The Booking Fee is an administration fee to cover my time spent in relation to you securing a booking, any pre-wedding communication, wedding day schedule and all other correspondence and phone calls. The Booking Fee is your commitment to booking my services exclusively for the Service Date. Once I accept your booking, I decline requests for my services for that date. This Booking Fee is deducted from the booking total.

Are you able to hold my wedding date for me?

To ensure fairness to anyone who enquires, I operate on a first-come first-served basis and a date will remain available for someone to book until a formal booking has been made. I aim to maintain integrity in my booking process and use this approach to provide an equal opportunity for all.

What is the payment schedule?

The final balance is due no less than 4 weeks before the wedding date. I do not accept payments from individual people in your bridal party or split payments.

TIMING

How much time to I need to allow on the day?

A good guide is 1 hour per person. While it may not take that long for each service, this includes the hair or makeup service (so it would be 2 hrs per person for hair AND makeup) allowing for toilet breaks and hygiene in between each person. It allows time for you to chat to your florist when they deliver your flowers and be able to comfortably chat to those who may drop in and visit without feeling rushed. Times may vary according to hair and makeup styles required. I allow extra time to apply lip colour and do any touch ups at the end – that way everyone will be able to eat and drink during the day.

Hair and makeup should be finished around 90 minutes before you need to leave for the ceremony. This allows time for you to have that glass of bubbly, some prep shots, get into your dress and calm the nerves before stepping out the door! This will also keep your photographer very happy that you will not be running late and that they can deliver the best photos to you as well.

I will provide a schedule so the day runs smoothly. If there’s another creative on your team, I’ll work in with them on the day to ensure a smooth production line so we don’t both need you at the same time.

The goal is to have beautiful hair and makeup for your special day. For that to happen, I believe it’s important to allow enough time for quality work so your getting ready experience is enjoyable and stress free. I will only leave you once you are completely ready.

HEALTH & SAFETY

As a professional, the health and safety of everyone is a high priority and I take that responsibility very seriously. I am proactive in managing the risk of COVID-19, or any contagious illness/condition, for the health and safety of everyone, the uninterrupted continuation of my business and by staying healthy, to ensure I can fulfill my commitment to you and other clients after you. I take all possible precautions and uphold strict hygiene procedures to avoid and limit contamination and spread of infection.

Trial FAQs

Do I need to have a trial?

Weddings are often one of the few times that someone will have their makeup done professionally or have a bridal hairstyle so it’s the best way to trial the things you think you might like and help you decide on a look for your big day. It means that I can offer you as much advice about what will and won’t work for you. Then on the day you don’t have to think too much about it, you can just relax and enjoy the process. A trial usually puts people at ease so I highly recommend it. A trial is also useful so we can get to know each other a little bit before the day and is a great excuse to get pampered!

You don’t have to have a trial. Some things are best not left to chance, but in the end, if you don’t want to book a trial, have limited time available or perhaps the budget doesn’t allow for it, don’t worry. I’m happy to have a 15 minute Zoom chat with you to discuss your ideas and needs for the day. Just bear in mind that there’s no time to trial a look on the day of the wedding.

When should I have a trial?

I recommend having a trial about 3-6 months before the wedding day. It’s best if you have chosen your dress and know the style and colours needed to coordinate and complement with the look you are after. For a hair trial, if you will be having a veil or hair accessories, it’s helpful to be able to bring those with you.

When are you available for a trial?

Trials are held Tuesday – Friday between the hours of 9 – 5pm.

TRIAL GUARANTEE

I want you to feel relaxed and comfortable with being open about what you like and don’t like. You can let me know if there’s anything you don’t like or are unsure about as we go so I can make any adjustments as needed. For absolute peace of mind, if you give direction and are still unsatisfied with the outcome by the end of your trial, I will provide a second trial free of charge. You would need to tell me that you are unhappy at the trial, remove the makeup and book a time for a second trial before you leave the studio. No hard feelings!
